How Our Program Works:
We understand the unique needs of dependent adults, particularly those with dementia, Alzheimer’s, cognitive, or physical impairment conditions. Our S.O.S. program is designed to provide specialized preventive oral care services to enhance the oral health of these residents.
Assigned Oral Care Specialists:
Dependent adults in need of assistance will be assigned to an S.O.S. oral care specialist. We ensure that both the resident and the specialist have a designated time and day for weekly preventive oral care services. Our specialists bring years of clinical dental experience, including some with a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) background, providing comprehensive care to assess, evaluate, and improve the resident’s oral health.
Certified Caregivers with Liability Insurance:
All our specialists are certified caregivers with the American Caregiver Association and are covered by liability insurance, allowing them to enter nursing facilities and perform preventive oral care services.
Weekly Services by Our Specialists:
Every week, our dedicated specialists provide a range of services aimed at ensuring optimal oral health for our clients:
- Non-irritating Antimicrobial Oral Rinse:
- Administered at the beginning of each session to effectively eliminate bacteria, establishing a clean foundation for subsequent procedures.
- Biofilm Build-up Removal:
- Thorough removal using a combination of brushing and over-the-counter interdental aids, ensuring a comprehensive approach to oral hygiene.
- Over-the-counter Fluoride Application:
- Applied at the end of each session to fortify teeth against cavities and enhance overall dental health.
- Cleaning of Removable Oral Appliances (if applicable):
- Meticulous cleaning of any removable oral appliances, contributing to both hygiene and functionality.
Our specialists are committed to providing these essential services weekly, contributing to the overall well-being and oral health of our clients.
Documentation and Family Communication:
We retain documentation of each visit, and upon request, an emailed copy is provided to the family. If any suspicious or significant findings that may require a dentist’s evaluation are discovered, the family is promptly notified. However, it is up to the family/Power of Attorney (POA) to decide if dental intervention is required, as our team members are legally not authorized to diagnose dental conditions.
Contract Services:
We offer different types of contract services to cater to varied needs:
- Private Pay Contracts: No out-of-pocket expenses for the nursing facility. We work directly with the resident’s Power of Attorney, managing paperwork, correspondence, and billing between them and our staff.
- Full Facility Contracts: Facilities can allow our specialists to see any number of residents who would benefit from our preventive oral care assistance.
- Home Visit Contracts: For clients not in a facility, we offer weekly home visits, providing the same services in the comfort of the client’s home.
Effortless Initial Paperwork:
Our Initial Paperwork can be easily sent via DocuSign, eliminating the need for printing, scanning, emailing, or faxing. Contact us to learn more about our programs and how we can tailor our services to meet your specific needs.
