March 2025 | Bridging the Gap: The Role of Weekly Oral Care in Senior Health
March 2025
Marching into Better Oral Health!
March is Oral Health Month, and at SOS, it’s at the heart of everything we do.
Our team provides weekly oral care for dependent adults, helping to prevent infections and disease before they start. The reality is, most dental problems happen in between dental visits—especially for those who can’t care for their teeth on their own. That’s where we step in, working alongside dentists and care teams to keep smiles healthy and residents comfortable.
Is neglecting oral health putting brain health at risk? Growing research suggests a powerful link between poor oral hygiene and dementia—but it’s being overlooked. Tooth loss, gum disease, and oral frailty don’t just affect the mouth; they may accelerate cognitive decline and increase dementia risk. A recent Lancet letter urges experts to take this connection seriously, pushing for more research into oral health as a key factor in dementia prevention. The evidence is clear: prioritizing oral care isn’t just about a healthy smile—it could help protect the mind.
We are honored to be guided by a team of dedicated advisors who volunteer their time to bring expertise, insight, and passion to our mission of improving senior oral health. Their knowledge helps us navigate challenges, refine our approach, and continue making a meaningful impact.

“Thank you for taking such good care of my 93 year old mother in the comfort of her memory care facility. My mother is happy to sit still and have her teeth cared for. The staff is personable, gentle, and knowledgeable. I am impressed with the professional service and bedside manner and would recommend SOS to anyone needing in home care.”
